Changing character in a game

Hi all!
I really need your help to find out what's wrong in the few events I have programmed so far for a game.

What do I want to do? I want to make a platform game where the player, by pressing a button, changes the main character. I'll make an example to explain better: the player is playing with Sonic. When Sonic is completely stopped (not walking, jumping or falling), if the player presses CTRL, Sonic disappears, and Knuckles appears in that place. Now when Knuckles is stopped and the player presses CTRL, Tails appears instead of Knuckles. Repeating the same procedure now, will make Sonic appear.

I'm using three different Platform Movement Objects, because every character will have different speed, jump strength, and so on.

I'm encountering 2 big bugs. First of all, after I have jumped with one character, when I change character using CTRL, the next character jumps immediatly without the player to have pressed the jump key. And so happens also with the third (and last) character.
The second bug is that sometimes the player can change the character even when it is moving or jumping.

I don't know what is wrong in your events but i've found an easier alternative. I can send you an example by e-mail if you want.
