Help with assigning icons with power system object

Hi,

I know you can assign new icons to file extension such as .ABC wit hthe power system object... and that you designate a path to the icon... but how does it work with the diferent icon sizes? Whats the naming convention? Do I make an icon in each of the standard sizes (up to 256x256 for vista) and does windows pick the apropriately sized icon?

Or can I only assign to one specifically sized icon?

Windows automatically chooses the icon size that best fits the size it needs to display at. As far as I know the naming doesn't matter.

The Icon file format only allows files with a size up to 256 by 256 anyway (the width and height are each stored as one byte).

Some icon editing tools (like www.icon-maker.com) allow you to add your own sizes that can be any size within the above range.

So, am Directing the power system object to ta file or just a folder? I jsut throw any png's in that folder in the sizes of icons and it will consider them icons for that designated file extension?

No, you need an icon file (.ico) containing all the images.
