A couple questions regarding demo recordings...

    Hey, folks!

I have a couple questions regarding the recording and playback of demos in MMF2.

1.) I'd like to set up a demo such that when the computer is idle, it would play a demo. However, text would need to display over the demo. (These are Text Blitter extensions.) Is that possible? Or can only the demo be displayed during demo playback?

2.) From my experimentation with demos, it seems that once you start playing a demo, you cannot interrupt its playback (short of ending the application). If a person wants to play a game while a demo is playing, is it possible to assign a keystroke to abruptly end the demo before its conclusion?

    Thank you!

    1. Demos only use keypresses, so you can do anything you want during the demo.

    2. You have to use a menu command (or maybe some extension...?), because all key input is blocked for the demo playback to override it.

    Hey, LB!

Hmmm... I see... Does the blocking of keyboard strokes also pertain to non-standard keyboard keys, such as Scroll Lock?

I wonder if using a Control-X object could be used somehow to activate a keystroke which would stop the demo? I guess a demo is stopped in the recording process by using an assigned key to end the application (such as ESC)? Or is there another keystroke which can be used in demo recording to stop a recording without ending the application? If so, perhaps a Control-X object could be used to activate that keystroke somehow (such as after a specified period of time).

Or am I just smokin' crack?...

    Thanks!

For demo recording...you can just detect the input like normal.

For demo playback, there'll have to be some testing. So far I know a menu option will work; the user can click the menu option.
