Spread Value tutorial or assistance?

Are there any tutorials or tips for using the spread value?

Implementing it is easy enough, but how do you differentiate between objects in a calculation?

I want to calculate the distance between 2 of the same object, then set the distance as a value and use that value to determine if the object should move closer or further to the object with the lower spread value.
When I try to do this, none of the instances move, but if I were to point to a different object the code works fine.

Do I need to take a different approach, or is this doable.

You need to store the positions of one of the objects somewhere and then do the calculations with the stored position values and the other object's position values.
