    3D Mesh object help.

Hello. I am just wondering if anyone could assist me in using the 3D Mesh Object. There wasn't an included example file.

I would also like to know how the model must be set up to display correctly. I use 3d studio max, so .3ds format is what I'm working with.

Thanks for any help that you may be able to give.

It supports 3ds files and is pretty easy to use. Just load your 3ds file, set the primary texture, and rotate/scale/zoom all you want.

Some 3DS files show up and some dont. That's why I wanted to know if 3DS files need to be set up a certain way.

Yer, the mesh inside needs to be near the coordinates '0,0,0' otherwise you won't see them.

    Re: 3D Mesh object help.

Actually, all my models are at those coordinates. I played around with it some more and it seems to have something to do with the materials.

That said, I have a model that uses 2 different materials. I select both of these materials and set their type to solid (they are just diffuse color maps). However, when displayed, 3D Mesh seems to pick one texture or the other. That is, it will either completely cover the mesh with one texture, or completely cover it with the other if I choose "Solid 2 layer" as the material type. Am I going to have to redo the uvwraps with just one material on the actual model, or am I doing something wrong?

    Re: 3D Mesh object help.

It could just be the objects fault, that extension is a little 'iffy' with textures, also I'm pretty sure it leaks memory.

If you want reliable 3D {meshes} in MMF2 and your up for it, You could look into OpenGl an extension series geared drawing hardware accelerate 3D model-viewers and games.

If you want to stick with 3D Mesh object then your idea of placing both textures in a single file and offsetting there corresponding texture coordinates is a good one
