    Drag/Drop objects between Sub-Application windows?

    Hi,

I'm trying to make a pretty strange game that has an interface that looks like a series of different windows applications.

So far I've been playing around with Sub-Application frames acting as pop-up windows or MDI-child windows...

...But although that gets the look/feel I want, it doesn't actually work for my needs.
What I need is for active objects and other stuff to be able to leave their respective windows-- like for example letting the player drag and drop objects from one Sub-Application window into another.

Is there any way to do that?

Or failing that, to fake it at least and creating the illusion that that's happening?

You can use a popup sub app with the window shape object in the shape of the active, and use the kernel object to set its semi-transparency like it is being dragged. Then you can use that to drag between windows. It's a bit tricky and is indeed faking it, but it works.

If you mean actually dragging it like windows drags files and other programs that drag other things, an extension will have to be made for that...

    Ah, that's clever.
Seems to be working out for me so far-- thanks for the suggestion!
