gun slinger scrolling help

hi, i would like to add a scrolling effect to the main character I.e gun slinger.

Issue: The gunslinger is always directed to the current mouse position. the character uses positions 0 - 16 only.

I can not move the character without upsetting the direction to the mouse.

Question: what method is best suited to scroll the background using the arrow keys?

I think the short answer would be to tie it to an object with keyed movement.

The may be complexities around the movement of you main character.

thanks i found an answer, hopefully all i need to do now is add a walking animation and have it played when needed.
