Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

A couple observations (could be problems I causes)

When I first open up the xcode app -- I always have to go in and edit project to use the iOS 4.1 -- it says iOS 4.0 is missing. I wish I could figure out where to set the default to be iOS 4.1 as that is what my iPod has on it.

    When building to the device:
The first time I build for the device it comes up with an error message:
Error from debugger: The program being debugged is not being run

There is an icon on the phone and when clicked it doesn't start.

I then build it a 2nd time and then the game works fine.

Just weird -- what am I doing wrong?

That's odd... when I set those properties for the xcode project and save it, the settings are remembered for the next time just fine. Does this not happen for you if you make these changes, save, close the project and reopen it?

    About the IOS version.
This version has been created for IOS4. It seems that XCode wants the IOS of the version from the project. I'll try to find out in the project the version of IOS to change it when you save the project from MMF2.

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

More info -- I had to upgrade my device to iOS 4.1 and this is when this problem started.

Basically if I remember right Apple said -- If you want to make your device provisional you need to update it to 4.1 I think I also downloaded something for xcode at the same time? Can't really remember now.

So if there is someway to update this in MMF that would be handy.

This is going to be a ongoing problem.
If we release for 4.1, then when 4.2 comes out they will have to upgrade.
So we have to document the way to change the version in the project, as we certainly cannot keep yup with Apples fast releases

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

I had the same problem that Jeff had.

I had SDK 4.0 but the firmware on my phone was 4.1 so just then, I updated my SDK to 4.1 and in Xcode it says "Base SDK Missing".

Before I updated I could run my game in the XCode iPhone simulator, but not my phone. After updating I could not run anything. But I managed to fix it the same way Jeff did.

For anyone else wondering, here is how you fix it:
In Xcode go to Project > Edit Project Settings > "Base SDK" > iOS Device 4.1

MMF2 games now work on my iPhone 4

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

You can have an XCode 3.2 and an iPhone 4.1 as long as you build for a Distribution certificate, drop the app on iTunes, and sync.
You also need to register your beta testers phone serial numbers (including yours) for the provision file that must need to be drop on iTunes too.

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

I have the same problem as Jeff, but my device is an iPod Touch 3 Generation. In the simulator the game runs perfect but in Ipod with IOS 4.1 does not run.
Any suggestions. I put error image that shows the debugger.

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

I have an iphone 3gs and I don't have any of the above problems.

    I'm on firmware 4.1

Could the fact that it's an ipod make that much of a difference?

As for not working the first time around:
Don't tap the app's icon when it first appears on the phone. Wait for it to start on it's own.

Re: Beta 3 - Building onto the phone or simulator

Really do not know if the problem is the iPod, but if it works on an iPhone should work on an iPod is the same machine.

    Thanks,
