    How to totally hide application

I know how to hide the window of app and taskbar icon by moving the app to the tray itself. But that method of hiding is not enough for me.

I would like to totally hide the application so it would run in the background as a process and become 'visible' after some key combination.

My aim is not to create any kind of keylogger or any other illegal software but just control application for my work place which would work like those mentioned (as meant as, without knowledge of someone new who just sat to the machine just purely in the background).

    Any suggestions?

    Check "Hidden at start"
    [/spoiler]

Whoops, only saw "hide from taskbar" - didn't see the "hide from window"

I think he wants to hide it from the application tab in the task manager and I am not sure that does it? (didn't try)

I am reading some stuff about running an EXE as a service but I never tried that before with an MMF EXE.

Re: How to totally hide application

Maybe I will try to make it simpler.

    I've got app.

It hides to Traybar (so it's not visible in task bar).

But I want to 'remove it' from Traybar so it would run only in background - invisible for potentional user. Like keyloggers and other 'illegal' softwares does.

And yes Jeff it would be something similar to running it as a service, which would be helpful in one of my future projects - where I would like to create operational software for my company in MMF. But make some of them running as control apps in the background so users wouldn't have access to them.

Unless I am missing something here, can't you just use the Window Control to hide it? Or check Hidden at start in the properties? Then get rid of your tray icon.

Re: How to totally hide application

wondering if I could use this idea to hide the auto html editing part of my app as I need it to be totaly invisible to the user? The idea being that it is all handled in the background and the user never has to deal with a single line of code.

Re: How to totally hide application

But I would like it to be hidden on XP, Vista and Windows 7. Whereas it never works under XP (at least Mode one). But thanks for suggestion I will try it tomorrow on proper Windows XP machines.

Re: How to totally hide application

Thanks StephenL! Your solution is the best one - other one is to use Advanced Tray Icon hiding options but each time you will call them window is re-minimizing, whereas in your suggestion it's just doing what it suppose to do.
