    Beginners help

Hi, I'm interested in making a point & click style game using the Newgrounds edition of TGF2 but I'm having some problems.

I'm having trouble getting the mouse to change into a hand pointer when hovering over a object.

For an example, here's a link to a game called The Infinite Ocean > http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/555087

Any help would be appreciated as I've been wanting to make a game for a while now and TGF2 seems like the best option for me. Thanks.

you could easily use a active object, and each frame draw one of the mouse objects you need (Arrow, Hand, etc) then set the X and Y of the object to the mouse corr.

Then through your eventing force the frame of the object to what ever you need when you need it.

    Thanks, I'll try that!

I had the original Games Factory years ago so I know my way around the layout and made a few little games etc, it's just the certain things on the events page I struggle with.

Okay, I've managed to do that alright, but I can't change it back to the normal cursor when it's not hovering over the object. Any ideas?

Use a negate on a event line....

duplicate your Overlapping condition on a new event line, then right click it and select the fourth option down "Negate" this will then ask is Object A not overlapping Object B. Then for your action change the cursor back!

    Re: Beginners help

Just tried that and it just gives me a little red X in front of the event code.

    It reads:

    X (Object A)is Overlapping (Object B)

    Re: Beginners help

Or, if you want to save on efficiency/events, you can just use an Always event.

    Always: Set cursor to normal

Object A is overlapping B: Set cursor to hand

This will make the cursor always normal, except when it is overlapping
