    What are my best options?

I want to be able to have a save file, or possibly even numerous save files for my flash game.

Now I could use an INI file (which is currently how it's setup and works fine etc) and have it stored in temp files, however this isn't ideal as some people clear those files often.

So this is a post asking for opinion or ideas on what other file options do I have in the case of flash?

You could get people to create a save that's stored in an online database, and use the Get object to interact with it. Alternatively, if you're planning to release the game through Mochi, the Mochi Social object allows you to save and retrieve arbitrary data associated with their accounts.

Oh right I didn't realise you could use mochi social to store data that way. Is there any limits to this that you know of at all? I may look into it, it sounds good

I'm not sure, actually - I've used it in a test application and it seemed to work well, but you have to send and receive pieces of data individually (you can't load a "file" all at once, as you would for an INI). I think it would probably work best for a game that had save data that was easily compressible down into something small.

Well, most Flash games store their games in Flash cookies, so using the INI object isn't really a problem in my experience. And it works really well, too.

Mochi is an alternative but only if you're planning on using Mochi distribution; some of the major Flash sites will ask you to remove such content, if I'm not mistaken.
