Help needed by noob

i am making a platformer on the games factory 2 but cant figure out how to do side scrolling i tried centering screen on the character in events but it did not work.Please help

i have already read the tutorial but the methods dont seem to be working i do what it says(increase size of playing field and the stuff in events) but my character stills just walks ofscreen is there and other methods for platformers i could use or am i doing it wrong?

There is no scrolling at all? Is your game resolution smaller than your play area? Eg. is your game in a 640x480 window and your play area larger than that?

Upload what you have to the File Archive section of this forum and someone (possibly me) will take a look at it and figure out what you're doing wrong.

i have encountered another problem i made score but i need to put a board behind it try as i might i cant get the board to follow the screen i tried improvising by making a points item(as they follow the screen)into a backboard but when the screen moves the actual score dissapears behind the board (even though i set the score to front), it reapears whent the screen stops scrolling, please help

I know what you mean - go to the counter's properties and unselect "Display as background".

thanks heaps any ideas for enemys i have made one that explodes when you get to close one that dissapears and a standard moving enemy its not a shoot em up so no guns but some input would help

I find the best way to get ideas is to play a lot of games. It seems your game is a sidescrolling platformer, so try playing a lot of platformers and look at what other people do.

You should find a lot of great platformers on NewGrounds.com, otherwise you can look to classics like Mario, Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Donkey Kong Country and others.
