    SWF/Flash Runtime or Flash/SWF Runtime?

I noticed that the Forum talks about the SWF/Flash Runtime. The shop talks about the Flash/SWF Exporter though. Nice little confusion

One more thing, when you search for Flash in the shop, then you will get no result. And when you search for SWF, then you will also fail. My guess is that this can cost customers.

Re: SWF/Flash Runtime or Flash/SWF Runtime?

When people talk about runtime and exporter they basically mean the same thing. Technically it's not actually a runtime though because as far as i know there is no flash display built in.

So everything that works in a preview is basically using the standard exe runtimes display but after it is built it is converted to actual flash. Maybe a bit confusing but most people will know what someone means unless they are new to the program.

I believe it is a SWF runtime. I think they use the "Flash" word to show that it generates a SWF similar to Flash's SWF.

Flash files use Flash engine. SWF stands for Shockwave Flash, a type of flash coding used with the engine. Non-Shockwave are FLV files.
As far as I gathered, anyway.

Re: SWF/Flash Runtime or Flash/SWF Runtime?

A SWF file is a Shockwave Flash file regardless of how it is created, e.g. with Adobe Flash, MMF2 SWF Exporer, or any other software capable of creating SWF files.

An FLV is a Flash Video file which is a video file encoded in a particular way for efficient transmission over the Internet.

The SWF Exporter is generally how the Clickteam product is known to end users. The SWF 'runtime' is the code written by Clickteam that enables MMF files to be compiled into a SWF. It's probably more commonly used by those who are developing extensions, but there appears to be no fixed convention.
