Maximum number of backdrops? (lower than actives?)

So I've tried to create a clone of OpenTTD, how ever i came to a quick stop. I started by making a loop called "X" 128 times, this loop would start loop "Y" 128 times, to create a backdrop at the cell X and Y of a ISO object. However, apparently I could only make 4096 backdrops, after that i came to an end. I couldn't even (after creating a 'click and place backdrop at mouse' action) make another.

Have anyone else had this problem, and do you have an idea how to get around it?

    Same cap, actually
Just raise the maximum number of active objects in your frame properties, up to 20000. If you need something that makes more than 20,000 backdrops you might be in trouble, but I think you'd be doing something horribly wrong at that point

(for example, in a level editor, any tiles which don't have collision values can be simulated by using a text blitter object, which trades off processing for memory)

You can have up to the object cap of either backdrops or normal objects. You can have 20,000 of each- not limited to the sum of both
