how to import graphics into TGF 2 / MMF 2???

no seriously i still don't understand how to import graphics into tgf 2. its probably just very buggy or i am doing something wrong.

i am using TGF 2 Newgrounds Edition. according to my knowledge this is the latest build of click products.

Now I have exported A PNG with transparency out of Photoshop. HOW do I get this into TGF 2?

If I import it into TGF 2 without having selected any check box I get some nasty graphic bug. I can't import PSD files and GIF is nasty so how exactly do I get my graphic into TGF 2 the way it is supposed to?

how do you get graphics into your games?

    ---------------

I have saved the image as PNG-24 with transparency.
    in photoshop that is:
    file -> save for web

If I save it as PNG-8 I will NOT get this bug. The problem with PNG-8 is: It will give you an ugly white outline. That is just the way PNG-8 seems to work. I can import the PNG-8 into Adobe Flash or any other program : It has the ugly white outline because that is the way Photoshop saved the file.

In order to avoid the white outline you need to save as PNG-24. It removed the outline and looks the way it should look like. I have imported both files into Adobe Flash as test.

this is the PNG-8 with the nasty outline

this is the PNG-24. this image is the way it is supposed to be.

this is a screenshot of the stage of Adobe Flash 8 to show the difference between both files. The top picture is the PNG-8 while the bottom picture is the PNG-24 (the right one):

Sadly there seems to be no other file format with transparency TGF 2 supports. GIF does not have enough colours and also gives you the terrible outline like PNG-8 and those are all file formats that support transparency.
Maybe if TGF2/MMF2 would support TGA/TIF or PSD. You probably need to pay money to Adobe if it should support PSD so let's better forget about this. I don't know if it costs money to support the TGA or TIF file extension / add those file types to the importer of TGF2/MMF2. So we could have file extensions with rich colours and transparency support.

TGF doesn't support alpha channels IIRC (that's an MMF feature), so it will have a hard outline, but it should still look much better than it did...

    shame

so the difference between PNG-8 and PNG-24 is the alpha channel?

No, thats the actual image without it's alpha data. What BigM has to do is edit or create his PNG images so that they have no semitransparent pixels, only either completely opaque or completely tansparent. Then give the image a BG that is a color that none of the opaque pixels use, then import it with that color as transparent.

Just so you know, BigM, you're images would load in perfectly in MMF, TGF2 is not corrupting your image at all, its just ignoring the alpha channel because it doesnt support it by design. You're going to have to settle for slightly more retro looking games or upgrade to MMF2.

Re: how to import graphics into TGF 2 / MMF 2???

don't worry I have mmf 2. i was just messing around with tgf 2 newgrounds edition because of flash.

so here is a new question
i have loaded my transparent image into mmf2 and I make a selection around one part of it and move that selection around- underneath I will only get black in the shape of my graphic.

i know this is duo to my alpha channel but how can i pick a part out of a graphic- move it around without having some black under it?

You have to edit the alpha channel and move that too.

It's not a bug, you do not see those boxes in the original image because they are hidden by the alpha channel. Hide the alpha channel in the image in Photoshop, you'll see the boxes. TGF2 just ignores the alpha channel, so you see everything that was hidden in the bitmap channel.
