    Pod vs Pad

So we currently have a universal setting in our iDevice app properties settings. I had assumed that this was set so that I could run the game on iPods and iPhones, but also so that it would run at 2x scaled on iPad. but when submitting this app to Apple and upon it's acceptance it treats the app as native res iPod and iPhone and native res iPad which is not the case. SO...

Well we have a way to do the following...

-Detect which device type I am running on
-Change resolution to match device, IE have frames for iPods & iPhones set to a res for them and frames for iPad and set res's for them

    And a Question...

-Jason Darby, you played VTA on your iPad did it play in standard 2x config or did it run "stretched"

I compiled a universal app and my iPad stretched it out to fill the screen and kept the aspect ratio.

So there were black bars across the top and bottom of the screen.

It also ran on my iphone 3GS, but had some lag.

So, the letterboxes appeared automatically, right?

Kisguri, on the ipad 1 the game was automatically resized, but not like if you have an iphone game where you maximize it yourself... there is no option to reduce the size.

    Hope that makes sense.

You mean, play it on 2X size.

Yes the letter boxes appeared automatically.

There was no option to resize the app like JasonDarby said, it just filled the screen.

If you compile an app for iphone only then you'll get a little circle button in the corner that lets you change the size from iphone size to ipad size.

I see. What about universal binaries with an app size of iphone? On the iPad, do they appear letterboxed? Or the does aspect ratio change?

    Re: Pod vs Pad

I only tested a retina sized app that was universal.

Yes it was letter boxed as I said before.

It looks really good, and it has pixel smoothing, so no blocky pixels.

This will not work, as the important thing in the application is the window size, and there can only be one.
