Jump Attacks/Gravity??

I'm trying to make it so the character can jump and then attack in midair with CTRL. I want the character's gravity to be reduced while he is attacking in midair, but when I put in the event to change his gravity, I could jump over and over if I attacked. Does anyone know how I can temporarily reduce the gravity during the animation without letting him jump over and over in midair? Thanks.

I found this out accidentally, if you make it so the character's movement stops when attacking then when attacking in mid air the character won't stop but just slow down while falling. Not sure if that helps.
