    Lost Object after build

    Has anyone experienced the following issue?

    After creating an SWF build, an object was lost when the build was created.

    Then, when I saved the MFA after creating the build, the object disappeared from frames of the MFA as well!

    At first, I thought it was just a coincidence.
    But now, I am certain this is really happening and not a fluke, having tested it a few times with backup copies of the MFA.


    Any idea how to avoid this or why it is happening?

    FYI the object consistently lost is an active object with bouncing ball movement.

    I have experienced similar type of an issue with one of my games (luckily only that one), but if I recall in my case it was about backdrop objects, not actives.

    So basically what happened was when I built the swf, some background objects randomly disappeared from the mfa. I "solved" the issue by using earlier backup copies and redoing some stuff, and since then I've never encountered this scary thing again.

    In further experimentation, I can tell you all the sequence of events that seems to trigger the lost object program.

    To begin, my game is close to 30 frames and mfa us 100 MB size.
    Frame 3 (called "console") was sort of a template frame that was just taking up space - I used it to build the other frames.

    Because the final swf build was 75 MB I decided to delete all code and objects from frame 3, but I left the empty frame itself there because it is a placeholder for the subapps that my game runs (deleting frame 3 throws off the "frame from this application" code for the subapps).

    Anyway, after clearing frame 3 of all code and objects and creating the build, this moving active object called equip box 2 (that shows what weapon you are equipping) disappeared from the swf build AND the MFA.

    Not sure why, but it does. And I am very certain I only deleted objects from frame 3, not the whole application.

    You can try to insert in the frame where the object disappear an action that creates the object..

    It's not a big deal now that I know how to avoid it.

    The problem seems to be related to deleting code and objects from an early frame that somehow gets carried over to all frames after the build is made.

    Interestingly, the only objects that are lost seem to be active objects with bouncing ball movement. One was an equip message box, and the other is a message that reads "Healed!" when you are standing in a fountain.
