Export/Edit existing Active Object from library?

Is there a way to edit an existing Active Object from the Library by exporting the graphic itself to outside editing software?

You can export each animation in the object- either each frame, or all the frames as an animation.

In the animation editor, click Ctrl+S or the button for exporting in the top left of the editor. Then you can select to save either that frame or the animation (it will number it as for example image01, image02, image03, etc)

You can then edit those images, and use the import feature right next to the export feature (ctrl + O)

Thank you. I mean to refer to still images in the Library. Can I export one to an image editor, work on it and then use the usual import method to bring it back to the Library under a revised name? If so, exactly how?
