    Registering as an Apple developer

    Hi all!
First of all, thanks CT for releasing this great exporter at this low price!
I was looking at the Apple developers' site, and I saw that they suggest to use a different Apple ID for the developer account (not the same normally used for iTunes). What do you think about it? What are the disadvantages of using the same Apple ID for iTunes and for developer account?
What fields of my account will be publically visible?
Thank you in advanced for your help!

I think it's mainly so if you're a business you can keep your business records (sales & purchases on App Store) separate from your personal records (iTunes purchases)

Re: Registering as an Apple developer

If you use your existing personal Apple account, can you still enter your company/studio name as the author of the application, or is it automatically your real personal name? I recall the latter was the case still some year ago, but maybe it has changed since then?

When I went to upload an app to the store it let me type a new company name, so yes, you can use a diff name when you sell your apps.

Re: Registering as an Apple developer

From memory (about 2 years ago) you get to choose between company or individual when registering. I seem to remember others saying at the time that company registration could take a couple of months - had to send official paperwork to apple to prove who you were - it was quicker for individuals. Individuals do get to use a company name (can't be changed later) - which gets used in support and website links as well as the "More iPhone apps by..." link, but will still have your name as the developer in the sidebar info in iTunes (along with file size, min iOS, copyright, etc) - not sure if this is still the same nowadays.

Re: Registering as an Apple developer

When i registered as a company (about two years ago ... it took about 4 days, and i had to fax them my company documents. Its easier if you don't own a company to create an individual account. But the sakes as AyreGuitar, i don't know if its changed since then.

Re: Registering as an Apple developer

I applied as an MSN developer the same day as iOS(as a business).

M$ verification took 2 weeks, Apple took almost two MONTHS.

I did recieve an apology phone call from Apple, they said WWDC, iOS5 and Lion had created a huge backup of applications that were taking them time to get through.

There were zero issues with my application also, they were just busy.
