    how to: flashing, arcing neon light

    The player is walking down the darkish (mine, warehouse, etc.) alley and intermittent lights go buzz, buzz, partially increasing the illumination of the area.

    How are you doing this?

    It is a pretty common effect and I imagine there is more than one solution.

    Can you point us to an example of a 2D game that does what you are trying to do? It would help us explain how they are faking it.

    A bit slow getting to this...

    So, I had a 2D game but- do you think I can find it.! Too much clutter.

    Here is something I put together that more-or-less does what I had in mind.

    This is a kind of 'fake' light and I would really like to know more about MMFs lighting capability. I suspect there are better ways to do this.

    There is a spotlight example (Marv's I think) that I will look at when I have time.

    Any advance on this?

    Have you tried Andos' Dynamic Light and Shadow Engine 4?
    Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

    No, but it did come up in my search. Looks interesting.

    Where is the HWA download? The 'Download Center' has HWA shaders but I get the impression the HWA version is something/where else.

    Nothing in 'Quick File' links.

    For MMF2 Build 251 and below, it's the topic titled MMF2 HWA - Build 251. For build 252, it is built in to MMF2 and is no longer a separate download.
