    toggle animation sequence

    I have an active/animation.

My initial plan was to have the 'open' set to DIR ->
    and 'close' as DIR <-
When the player is in zone = open
    out of zone = close

    Doesn't seem to work???

I have it set for sequence Stopped/Walking OK but can't see why using DIR shouldn't work. I tried restore, forced frame...
This has future implications so, while I have a working solution, I would like to know how to use DIR

    Re: toggle animation sequence

If you are using built in movements, then animation directions will be automatically used. You should keep that in mind if your object is going to be moving around alot. As a general rule, you might consider making unique, custom animations for Open and Close. To add a custom animation, just right click in the animation name list and select New Animation. Then just set the animation depending on the situation.

no, the animated object is static. the players zone activates the anim,.

    >> consider making unique, custom animations for Open and Close
    I have done this.
    'open' set to DIR -->
    and 'close' as DIR <--

I have it working using anim sequence - stopped/walking - but the principle has future implications and I would like to know how to toggle DIR animations, different directions that each have an animation.

I didn't get it to work using DIR and only the stopped animations either.

I made this up before I re-read the original post and realized you already have a working solution. I'll post it anyway:

Thanks mojofltr - I am glad that you posted. It is always interesting for me to see different approaches.

So, how to toggle animations using directions..?

    Re: toggle animation sequence

I was suggesting you stop using different directions and use the default (right) direction of 2 unique, custom animations. And by custom, I mean not using any of the existing animations in the list (except maybe Stopped).

I am doing this. It works and I need to be getting on for now. But, I wonder if you are saying that using directions doesn't work. I can imagine situations where I would like to use it.

There was a post a while ago with someone using 100 hats. Thats a lot of unique sequences. Directions has one click to view 32.

I am still learning MMF boundaries and limitations and haven't ticked this one off the list just yet.
