Tablet Only Thread!

Sorry but I felt I had to create a thread so us developers using tablets can compare and also differentiate throughout development whether it's MMF2 or the device.

The reason for this is, I purchased the CNM TouchPad II which had durable specs attached to it, such as a dual-core 600mhz ARM926 processor, not sure about clock speed couldn't retrieve this. I put an animated helicopter (active) in a single frame, set a few simple conditions such as 'Leave Player Area > Bounce' I duplicated 6 actives. When I started the app it took between 1-2 seconds of 'juggery' or 'lag' then it seemed to run rather smooth.

However, I then proceed to create a 'scrollable' frame with a simple block that scrolled the frame at a speed of '10' which in test mode proved smooth, however on the TouchPad II it received 2-3 FPS.

As we all know, the people at Maplin, PC World, Curries probably don't know 1/10th of what we do even about PC's let alone tablets, it seems to still be a very grey area asking about 'tech specs' in retail shops but at the same time I don't want to be ordering anything 'online' from ebay or any other place; 1) I don't trust many sources online and 2) I don't have the patience to be waiting/exchanging/refunding etc.

So, for all the other tablet dev's on here, it would be cool if we could kinda integrate and beta test together, this way we could really tell whether it is a problem with MMF2 or the tablet itself. I have just reset the device ready to take back to Maplins tomorrow, but don't want to be spending another £120-300 on a different tablet if there was no need.

So, had to travel 50 miles today to the nearest Maplins in Wigan to swap and pay an extra £30 for the MiScroll which has pretty decent specs attached to it:

However, this time different problem. It loads the first frame fine, go to next frame (2-3 fps on touchpad II) and it just force closes. No Extensions used.

"Start of Frame > Start Path Movement"

It is a block that scrolls the 2500 width playarea with scrolling centered. The frame doesn't even get chance to load before throwing up the force close error.

Also tried FVivolo's sub-application which he was experiencing problems on and I experience the same issue there too.

Gonna keep on trying different things on this tablet.

In case you were wondering model number it is the SCR052751 (1GHZ ARM11 Processor)

Just tried a quick stringent test, loads of heli sprites bouncing around, takes around 1-2 seconds to get going but once they're running they're sound as a pound, 50+fps on average.

I know it's not a crazy SAS style test, but it shows the tablet is capable of running at least adequately. Would be interesting to get to the bottom of it. How are others finding their tablets?
