iSimulate - For recording trailers, demos, etc.

I found a nice tool that'll help you record trailers, or other kind of videos for your app.

It's called iSimulate. In a nutshell, what this does is lets you control apps in the iOS Simulator with your iOS device. It sends accelerometer, touch, location, and compass data to it.

What you do is download the app from App Store (there's a free version, the paid version costs $16).

Then you follow the directions on their website to add it to your app. It's pretty painless.

Good news about this is, you don't actually need to have a developer's license to use this (as you're not actually sending the app to your device).

One drawback or bug I did find with this is one of iSimulate's features is to stream the simulator's screen to your device, which is a pretty cool feature, it just never worked with my app.

Here's an example of something I just threw together with it. Definitely not perfect, but it's pretty good and I really think it was worth the purchase. But remember to always try the free version to make sure you like it.

What I did in this video was used ScreenRecorder and pretty much recorded the entire simulator. Obviously, with ScreenRecorder or iMovie, you'd be able to crop it how ever you'd like... But here it is, enjoy:

That looks really interesting. It would be cool if the MMF iOS exporter could support this, ie: a tick box to insert in the code changes to the xcode project automatically.

Would make things a bit easier, but right now it's easy enough to implement if they decide against it.

I was thinking the reason the streaming might not be working with my phone is because it's on iOS 5. Maybe they haven't updated their app to work correctly with it, but I'm not sure.

depending on your editing program, i think it would be easier to record from mmf runtime, then just add the iphone picture behind\on top

found a great .psd file with all the iphone stuff here: http://www.teehanlax.com/blog/iphone-gui-psd-v4/

there is also a retina and ipad version

Yeah that could be done too. My game is based heavily on accelerometer control. Just not the same with the arrow keys - specifically because I have different movement speeds dependent on the amount of tilt. Or anything with multitouch.
