iOS - download image to local storage

I finally got a chance to crack open the exporter today and having a blast with it. CT did a great job. Just amazing!

    Now for my question.

Is there a way to "GET" an image to save locally to the app? For example:

    http://www.clickteam.com/website/usa/img/pictures/home_boxes.jpg

It would then save it to a local storage. I guess that opens up my next question, what is the path or where are image files that I import kept? Is it encoded in the Application.cci file?

We currently only allow very few extensions to store any data locally to the app (like INI).

I have recently ported Active Picture object to iOS and added the feature that it can download and display an image from the internet. It will not store it locally though.

The Active Picture object for iOS is currently undergoing beta testing.

On that subject, adding in the option to load the backdrop image at runtime for the active and background system boxes and change the pattern alignment (with added options for top right, bottom left & right also) would be extremely helpful for UI stuff in my experience, even more so with Android on the cards and all of the varying screen resolutions to support.

Thanks Andos I am looking forward to it.

I finished my initial review of the iOS Exporter and it was indeed worth the wait. Fantastic job by CT.

Local storage for the INI is set in the cache. I'm looking for a way to store it in the system.Documents directory so I can read and write to it.

Andros, this is excellent to hear! The Active Picture object is exactly what I am waiting for.

You state that downloaded images from the internet will not be stored locally. Does this mean that we will be unable to store any local images with our application and access them via Active Picture?

The Active Picture object supports loading images bundled along the xcode project as resources as well. It is just that you cannot first download an image to some location and then load it from there, it either has to be from a resource or from a URL.
