    steam user account paths

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a "map installer" for counter-strike ran through Steam. problem for me is my directory is C:/Steam/steamapps/my-user-name/counter-strike/cstrike.
where as most people have installed Steam in Program Files.
so I'm not sure how to have the installer look for the users path plus everyone will have a different folder name at "my-user-name" any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Re: steam user account paths

Well I have installed Steam Counter-strike on another computer through the default path of Program Files and I have mappack.exe i tested on that computer and mine, with my path as C:/Steam. i thought about coping files to the path C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\accountname\counter-strike\cstrike and making the installer as the reply posted here, but i still don't know how to get pass the problem to have the installer find the correct path like C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\john-doe\counter-strike\cstrike because everyone's "john-doe" folder will have a different name. the installer i downloaded will find the correct path on both my machines and on 1. i have the path C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\csplayer2007\counter-strike\cstrike, and on 2. C:\Steam\steamapps\blacktalon\counter-strike\cstrike. so just worndering is there a way to set the installer to look for a specific path to the folder cstrike where all the files will be installed to

Ah I see... Have you had a look at the registry to see if a key value contains either C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\accountname or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\accountname\counter-strike or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\accountname\counter-strike\cstrike ?

    Re: steam user account paths

I check today and all I could find was HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\cstrike no sub-key though, did find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam with sub-key ModInstallPath but that pointed to Half-file and returned the correct path and account name but it still did not ponit to counter-strike\cstrike and when i checked another computer that sub-key was not present
