    Getting started with new Lacewing.

In the time between me stopping playing about with lacewing and now, it seems to have got a hell of a lot more complicated. Before there was the simple server.exe and life was good. Now you need to make your own server, if I understand correctly?

I tried to follow along with setting up a simple Python server and got bogged down with talk of Twisted and Zope that led to setuptools and easy-install and I just got bogged down following advice on several different sites, and still have got nowhere.

Can someone give me a straightforward way to get started with all this, please?

    Bewilderment... levels... rising...

Insert the Lacewing Relay Server object, and use the "Host" action.

Re: Getting started with new Lacewing.

Ok, I did that, and tried a basic "on connected set global string A to "Connected"" and got nothing, so changed it to "On Error set global string A to error message" and got

"UDP socket error - Error binding port - Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.
    (10048)"

EDIT: I'd set the port to the default 6121, by the way.

As a side note, the actual Lacewing extension itself doesn't show up in the create new object dialogue. Instead it's a blank object with no name and icon. Once in the frame editor it's got the Lacewing icon, but no name.

Pardon my complete and utter ignorance, it's all gone and changed on me D:

Nope, just regular MMF2. Ran the update to R251 and the icon problem has been solved.

As for the other problem, if I change the port from the default 6121, it starts hosting fine. Is this expected?

Sounds like port 6121 might already be taken by something?
