Download Object bug - Need help ASAP for my IGF entry Deadline 31st/11

OK, So I really need to get some help on this one ASAP.

I want to upload Today/Tomorrow the new version of my game for IGF Student Contest - http://www.igf.com/php-bin/entry2012.php?id=498 - and I'm eligible to do it as a Student.

But I wanted to introduce auto-updater which will help me out to stabilize the builds for judges. Unfortunately the Download Object got a CRUCIAL BUG, which blocks me from finishing it.

More precisely (the whole source code is provided in example, with precise file I want to download) if we lost Internet Connection during Downloading - the extension hangs whole application. But IF there is no Internet Connection when we start the application (it haven't started downloading) it closes the app as it should. I tried to control it with MooSock/DarkSocket/Lacewing as connection/disconnection timing but still Download object got some kind of prioritisation (due to stream of data?) which always freezes the app.

Also if anyone got any sort of alternative except FTP object and getting directly on FTP account - I wouldn't like to provide my login and password details to any app - I would be grateful.

You can use any socket extension for FTP, but it won't be encrypted. FTP is a very insecure protocol. All messages are sent as plain text.

That's the thing. This is why I wanted anonymous download. Nothing more. But Download object hangs with no Internet Connectivity.

You might be better off making a new FTP account just for your application, and giving that. If you do that, then it doesn't matter if anyone gets the info, since they'll only have access to the file they were going to download anyway.
