    Universal app/iphone app build error

    Hi all,

Using the update 1 beta 4, i was able to successfully compile an ipad app in the latest version of xcode and submit for approval to apple

Then I tried to do a universal app, but I got an error saying the arm settings were incorrect (even though I had it set to the arm6/7 or whatever the good compatibility setting is)

Then I tried to do just a iphone app on its own, but I got the same error saying the arm settings were incorrect (even though I had it set to the arm6/7 or whatever the good compatibility setting is)

So please can someone else confirm if they have the same arm error when signing a universal or iphone only archive

Yes I think this is a problem new to iOS 5. In the achitectures entry in your project properties, choose "other" and enter two lines, armv6 and armv7. Can anyone who has done it confirm this? Cant find the previous post about this...

I had this problem with my game on Sunday... basically Apple have decided to remove the option for Armv6 from the build options (nice nice apple)...

Its pretty straight forward... you need to make sure you add armv6 to the options and select no (but i cannot remember which no to select

I cannot recall the precise thing you need to do, but i can do a screenshot when i get home.

Okay having trouble making a screenshot on my mac (really should just buy snag it for mac... would save me a lot of time

    In your target, in Architectures...

Where it says Architectures.. it probably says armv7 standard... i added an additional armv6 line to this. I am not sure if you HAVE to do this...
Make sure Build Active Architecture Only is set to no.. because if the architectures is set to armv7 thats all it will build.
Valid architectures should read armv6 and armv7

    Hope that helps.

Delete the default architecture, then manually add 'armv6' and 'armv7' (without those quotes). I don't think it matters what order or what is selected, as it will use both entries in the list.

This has been working fine for me so far.

That's right, get rid of what's already in there and then add two separate entries - armv6 and armv7 ... it doesn't make any difference what order they are in. This solved the problem for me testing on two iTouch's - 2nd and 4th gen.
