Background music and the iPad

When my iPad app starts, music from the iPod music player stops.
My app plays no sound at all; is there a way to allow the music player to continue playing music in the background?
I can't find any solutions for this, although some people indicate it is possible.

This has to be a property of the application. For the moment the default behavior is to shut the sound.
We will implement it in a future version.

As a musician and sound designer this kinda grinds my gear a little You should NEVER listen to you ipod while playing a game. It is disrespectful to the creators of the game, and you diminish the experience the game wants to give you.

I agree but users should have the choice to play the game how they want to.
