    2GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, DVD-Brenner, Nvidia Geforce 7300GT 256MB

I know i need an intel mac for xcode. Well, thats all i know. Do you think i can propperly develop on this machine?

Should be fine. Which version of OS X is it running?

You might want to buy the Lion upgrade from the App Store (although I think Snow Leopard is fine if you're just using it as a build machine).

You should be ok, i think you can find the tech specs for Lion on the Apple website (going Lion is important for future proof i think)... If all you are going to do is the Xcode part on the device and not much else i think it sounds ok.

I threw an old Mac Mini in the other room and develop on a 6-Core Windows PC. I spend so little time on the Mac that I couldn't even imagine needing anything but the most basic one. I simply drop my Zip file output into Dropbox, extract it on the Mac, install the provisioning/distro profiles from develop.apple.com, open the project, Archive it, validate it, share it for Ad Hoc or Submit it to the iTunes. I don't even connect my iPhones or iPad any longer to the Mac as I just copy the Ad Hoc version through iTunes.

Even when I make extensions I use VNC to remote to the Mac Mini and spend very little actual time coding out the classes. I spent 10 years from 84-95 on Macs and I just can never see myself getting the same productivity through OS X as I do on Windows Server 2008 as a desktop OS.

    To each his own though

    Mac OS has changed quite a bit since 84 - 95 :-)

I can only speak as a C programmer, but my other job is Unix dev and OS X is pretty much unbeatable. It's fast, stable, has a solid open-source kernel, and uses a lot of FOSS technology instead of reinventing the wheel (Apple use - and contribute to - things like WebKit and Clang).

My only complaint about OS X is the mouse acceleration (!)

Strangely Jamie, it's the mouse responsiveness that drives me nutty the most. I've used Macs constantly since the Mac XL/Lisa in 84, but since 95/System 7 I've just avoided them for everything possible. I just don't find the OS to be an extension of myself as much as Windows where I can predict the responsiveness and things just do what I expect and when I expect them.
