    Does Apple permit this...

Is it possible to release two versions of the same game, one free with iAds, and one at whatever price tier you choose (Calling it an ad free version)? Will Apple let us do that?

I ask because I think I saw that Boggle, or one of those popular games was listed as FREE, but then also have a version for 2.99 that says "advertisement free" or something like that.

If anyone knows, let me know! Thanks!

Yes that should be fine.. you could in theory release the same game multiple times with different things in...

I think as long as the names are unique (have some different combination) and a different ID, then all is good.

I think most of their issues are with people calling programs demos etc (which is not allowed)..so yeah i think you will be fine.

I have 2 games one free with ads and less features and one paid. a word of caution though, releasing a full game for free with iAds will probably reduce sales and you may be shocked at the fill rates for IAds and the amount you earn is pretty low.

Personally I would not do it again, I would just have a paid version until sales bottom out then release a lite version with ads. It all depends on the game in my case it didn't work out to use iAds

That's quite interesting. Another user here at the forum reports that he's doing pretty well with iAds...

For me I had 800 downloads in 5 days thousands of ad requests but only a fill rate of 23%. A lot of the countries that downloaded don't use iAds china etc.. Total earnings over 5 days $9.78

It depends on the game, obviously my game doesn't keep people playing form more than 5 mins at a time. I have heard admob is slightly better and if clickteam add it we could run iAds and admob together.

I see. So the fill rate indicates how many times an ad was actually displayed vs. the number of times the app ran, right?

yes when the app runs if ads are available in that country then the app make a request for an ad, 70% of the time for me no ad is shown. When they are shown they are just ads to other apps and seem to be the same 5 or 6 ads all the time (for me). Your game is probably better then mine and would keep people playing longer allowing more ads to be shown

I think for maximum profits then ingame payments is the way to go, but with iads, i think its a nice little way of earning a little more than you might releasing the game for 69p which might only sell a small amount.

My latest game has sold about 15 copies so far (i havent advertised it or anything)... i suspect i would have made more money from it if i had put iads in it. Of course this should always depend on the cost to develop your game etc.
