    Exclamation Bug in Character Image object for SWF

    Trying to export a blank .mfa as .swf, with only the Character Image Object added gives me an error:

    Loading configuration file C:\Program Files\Multimedia Fusion Developer 2\Data\Runtime\Flash\Flex\frameworks\flex-config.xml
    C:\Users\Burfelt\AppData\Local\Temp\Fla9EDA.tmp\Ex tensions\CExtLoad.as(59): col: 12 Error: Call to a possibly undefined method CRunCharImage.

    object=new CRunCharImage();
    ^
    It seems like there is a bug with this object in swf?

    I reinstalled this object and it seemed to work, yet now there are new problems.

    It seems incompatible with scrolling frames? It's positioning is all messed up?. Anyone else experienced this?

    It is possible to hack it into working with scrolling. I managed to map the number of pixels the object would jump left for every pixel I scrolled right. I can't quite remember, but I think it's a very simple relationship of x^2 or similar. I'll have to look it up for you later.

    It would be so much better to have this problem finally fixed, though.

    If anyone can get ahold of Ross/Greyhill, I beleive clickteam was trying to reach him a few months back to get the source for the Char Image extension. I have almost stopped using it due to so many unpredictable bugs.

    Oh man, the worst bug for me was when the collection of images that a Char Image Object held would mess up. A portion of the characters would suddenly be slices of other graphics in the game, so a letter might suddenly become the bottom half of the player character, or a button from the main menu. For some reason the capital S would occasionally just change to a white box. When would this happen? Sometimes whilst moving stuff around on the same frame. But only sometimes! Undo wouldn't fix it, and worse still, occasionally I wouldn't notice right away. Oh, surely I could just regenerate from the font right? Not so easy when there are 20 char image objects on each frame, and 20 frames, it was just quicker to go back to a previous save.

    Rant over! If it wasn't for Dropbox, I'm not sure that project would ever have seen the light of day. Truly, I have a love/hate relationship with Char Image.
