Another bundle ID question

Am I correct in thinking the bundle ID is NEVER shown to the end user, at any time?

A coder I am talking to, seems to think for some reason the bundle id is displayed somehow on the itunes store app page. And then he says, even if this is not true, it is best practice to call the bundle id "com."company name"."app name"

I say yes, I agree, it is best practice to call it something meaningful/sensible, but despite that, you *could* still call it whatever you want as long as it matches up with your xcode certificates and has not been used by someone else.

The reason you need to call it "com."company name"."app name" is because when you create your bundle id at apple you can create it as "com."company name".* and can use it on any app. If you do not do this you need to create one for every app you make.

As far as i know the bundle id is not used for the app store

Apple says to do it like that, i do it like that... its confusing enough even when they tell you what to do :S I had to watch a video tutorial just to set it all up for my apps...
