    Differences in Display Modes...

I don't know if this has been discussed,.but I'm wondering what the differences are between Display mode options? I just would like to understand why there is Standard, DirectX, DirectX + Vram, Dircet3D 9 and Direct3D 8. Why would you use one over another? Also, what is V-Sync and Enable Visual Themes? One more thing, I understand Fps,.but what is that for. I know you can set Fps in MMF in the runtime options to a number, but why is it needed. What is the gain in setting it to say 50 and say if you set it to 100? I know it would be 50fps and then 100fps,.but wht would you need that. Would it be for just matching video if you have that in an application or game?
Sorry for all the questions, but I never knew this about MMF and it's confusing to me.
    Thank you,

    John

It's all in the help file...

As for framerate, try changing your game to 2 frames per second and playing it, then 1000 frames per second. Make sure you have a framerate counter so you can see the effect - note that at 1000 fps is may cap out at around 100~200 depending on your computer and your game.

It limits the speed but does not guarantee a minimum, this way you can make sure your game doesn't run way too fast for someone with a powerful computer.

It literally means how many frames there should be in a one second time span, each frame is one event loop.
Working as fast as I can on Fusion 3

Thanks LB. Now I understand Frame Rate. So if you set it for 50,.build your game and if someone has a more powerful PC than I do, the game will run at the same speed,.but will run slower (possibly) on a PC that is slower. So IMO,.it would be a good idea to include PC System Requirements. Minimum and Recommended.
