A good way to learn about events?

Could somebody please point me to a tutorial that describes event handling in-depth, i.e. beyond single condition/action? I'm trying out MF2, writing my first app, and could really benefit from an understanding of how/when conditions are evaluated, and in what sequence. For example, is there a way to code nested IFs?

I'm writing a simple app where one of the steps involves copying values from two counters to a new row of a tableview when a right mouse button is clicked. One of the values is copied fine, while the other one always takes the previous counter value.
