    Question iOS Background Music

    Hi Folks.

I have a couple of questions about background music in an iOS App.

    1. I have converted some of my background musics from WAV to MP3. How do I play the MP3 files in my App? Do I just use the standard Play Sound command in MMF?

    2. Some of my musics for this new App are modular music files, they are .IT extensions. Goldwave, the sound editing package I have, will not open .IT files. Will it be ok to use MMF's natural .IT playing functions to play these music files in my App?

MP3s will play using the 'play music' command. Dunno about the .IT.

No, sorry : to play an MP3 sound, you must use the Play sound action. Play music is only for MIDI files which is not supported on iOS (and will be removed from MMF3)

I discovered that today while working on my App. Surprised to hear MIDI support will be pulled from MMF 3 but in all fairness I can't recall the last time I used a MIDI file for background music.

I my previous post, I meant that the play music action would be removed from MMF as it is confusing: sometimes people use play music to play a mp3, and the play music action only understands MIDI. A single "play sound" action that plays everything, wav, mp3, midi, ogg, is a lot better and does not confuse anyone. (of course applications using play music would still work, the action would simply be removed from the menu).
    Still to be decided though.

Doh! Sorry. yes, the play music action is greyed out when you have your project set to xcode project.
