    Couple of questions before purchase

    Hi there,
I'm contemplating purchasing MMF2. But I had a couple of questions first.

1.) How easy do you think it would be to make a simple RPG game? Turn based. Like old school final fantasy.
2.) I heard there is going to be an XNA exporter. How much further do you think it will be until release? Is there a price range idea in mind?

    Thanks

    2) The XNA exporter will be released before the end of the month, unless last minute issue. Its price will be between the one of the SWF exporter and the one of the iOS exporter (something like $99).

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all the information and answering most of my questions. I was just curious, as I'm slightly confused looking at the demo. Does MMF2 not support 'tiles'? I come from software like RPG Maker, where you use tilesets to place the graphics and kinda 'paint' maps.

Think of MMF2 as kind of a halfway-house between something like RPG Maker and a "real" programming language.
It's far more versatile than RPG Maker (and other "cookie cutter" game makers), so there are many things that you can do in MMF2 that would be impossible with RPG Maker.
However, because it's not tailored to RPGs, you'll find many things that are simple with RPG Maker, are going to be a lot more difficult in MMF2 and require you to code more yourself.

Tiles are a good example of this. It's perfectly possible to make a tile-based game, but you'll have to code it more or less from scratch (incl. the map editor).

RPGs can be made in MMF2 - but definitely NOT by someone just getting started. Expect to be making simple little arcade shooters for quite some time, before tackling anything that complicated.

    Thanks for the info.
I was planning to tackle something less complicated to start, and maybe look at MMF2 as a way to 'port' my commercial RPG later down the road, when XNA support is present, and I've learned my way around. I appreciate it!
