    ATARI Pong Developer Challenge

Just a heads up for a challenge that would be ideal for a lot of MMFers

Atari are running a reboot of the pong franchise and have a competition going:-

    http://atari.com/pongdeveloperchallenge

Now before you get too excited atari is getting a lot of (deserved IMHO) flak regarding the terms and conditions of the entries - basically you hand over your game rights on entry :-

Still in case anyone still interested - you weigh up the facts and make your own choice.

Thanks for the heads up on this contest!

I would like to offer all people who enter the contest using TGF2 or MMF2 and put a little CT logo in the credits some sort of gift or thank you.

Let me know what you think?

Pretty cool contest! You have a chance to win up to 100,000,00 dollars for first prize. Nice pay day IMO. Now to come up with a killer idea for Pong 2012! LOL. Anyone want to colab on this!

Jeff, that's a great idea. I think a good prize would be MMF-3 when it's released.

    Ah hmmm after reading

Design Docs only by April 15th
Then they pick 20 people and tell them to build the game by sometime this summer.

I was hoping eveyone just built apps and they had to be on the app store by April 15th as MMF is the fastest way to make iOS apps!

If someone enters the contest, plans to use MMF and gets to the semi finals (where you actually make the game)

We will turn the API they talk about in the rules into an object for you so you can compete for the prizes.
We would also bump you up to MMF2 Dev and get you priority support for anything you needed!

    The rules are posted here:

What the heck is a design document? Is it a written out plan for the game? I would have no idea how to even go about that!!

    Yes basically.

I found some templates you could use to help organize your work on this.

    Edit --
Trying to read the rules -- I think you have to be in the USA to enter but maybe someone should ask on Atari's forum where they announced this contest.

Pong was the two player paddle against paddle, but Atari made breakout too and I think games like that are fine. You'd have to ask. Also, you have to be 18 with at least one published and approved iOS game before entering -_-

    Unhappy

I guess I should have read all of the rules before slapping this on the forum. I just saw the entry date (April 15th) and thought that if anyone was interested the earlier it was seen the more dev time they had. . As the time was so tight it would have been a good match for MMF.

Sorry for raising any hopes folks

That's fine, it's nice to know Atari still exists. Also, you may have inadvertently caused something else good to happen within the next month or so, but I'm not saying any more
