Question Is it safe for me to upgrade to latest build?

I am wondering if its safe for me to upgrade my MMFD to the latest build without messing up the games I am currently working on. Last time I tried it, it caused some very serious problems for some reason, and I had to change back to the version I built the game with to solve this. Is it possible to have two versions of MMFD installed at same time (and flash exporter)? Then I could keep this older version in case something happens and still get to use the new features of the later versions.

Or is it possible to somehow see what versions of extensions I am using so I can revert back?

Is there some way to see what changes may have happened in the game because of new version so I can go in and change them if there is something that have happened that I did not predict?

My current build is (Build R251) (HWA)

I went from 251 > 254 with no obvious problems but I have experienced retro-upgrade problems before.

I previously tried two versions - no go.
Its not that difficult to install new > uninst > reinst old

It's very unlikely you'll get problems, but personally I wouldn't bet my life on it - there may be fixes that changes how some minor things will work. To put it this way, I wouldn't upgrade just before an important deadline.

Two different computers yes, but because of the registry there could be conflicts. Also, some of the examples on my website are very old, and I've not received any feedback of them being messed up by 254. You really should upgrade. 251 is like the years of BC.

I already have it on two computers, my stationary and my laptop. There could be conflicts because of this? I almost always use the laptop though. But I am thinking I could keep the version on my stationary updated to latest and try the game there before upgrading on my laptop..hmm that would work yes! 251 is like BC compared to 254? :P What is really new? (I am using it mainly for flash, and I did notice when i tried later version on my stationary that you could change colors in flash now in events so thats something I want though!).

Also something to add that would make it even more compelling to upgrade: Its not possible as far as I can see to change the shortcut keys for the Workspace Toolbar, the Properties Toolbar and the Layers Toolbar. Everything else seems to be customized with shortcut keys. Its really annoying you cant change it because it would make it very flexible to be able to press just a button to hide or show the left or right side of the screen.

I've gotten problems upgrading games from very old builds from 2006. 251 is not that old, but you never know... It is probably a good thing having a backup of your game

Make a backup of your application before you update. If there are problems, you can revert back to an earlier build.

I have lots of backups for my application. The problem I have heard is to find all the older versions of extensions to, because they are replaced by newer ones?

If you reinstall MMF then re-apply build 251 you would be right back where you are now.

You would want to make sure you still have build 251 updater laying around but I don't really think you will find any critical issues only improvements.

Just save a copy of the MFA and don't open that and save it in the later builds or you can't go back.
