Inactive if too far from window

If I set inactive if too far from window to yes or no rather than automatic, it seems to actually cause a dip in the framerate of my application. While the amount it drops would probably be negligible on a modern desktop PC, I'm stuck on a netbook and it makes my game rather unplayable even with HWA switched on if I change this setting on a lot of objects from automatic. Why is this?

Does the fps dip increase the same amount if you chose yes or no? From what i understand it would be logical that it would cause a bit of fps dip if you choose "no", but if you pick "yes" it should increase the fps.. i am not to good at this technical stuff though, but that is what should be a logical conclusion.

It dips slightly less if "no" is picked, but putting everything to "automatic" rather than "yes" or "no" makes it run the fastest. I understand why automatic would be faster than yes, but I don't understand why it's faster than no.

"Yes" should be faster then "No"

Yeah but my question is: Why is "automatic" faster than "no"?

I think you have got it a bit wrong. If you choose "No", then no actives will be inactive no matter if they are 1000 pixels away from your playwindow which of course can make it slower. If its automatic then some actives will "shut off" until you get close enough to see them if I understand right. If yes they will always shut off if not close enough.
