To make a game like Angry Birds, you should look into Box2D. Be warned, a game like that won't be easy.

Stephen's right, these games might look simple, but the reality is that Rovio spent a lot of time perfecting the physics engine and it shows. Good luck anyway, i'd be interested to see your take on this.

I have experimented a bit in Box2D, but im still a novice. :P. It´s to bad there are not more examples and especially Box2D Tutorials for mmf. That would be real gold. (hint )

I'm in the middle of building a game called Pi**ed Off Pigs and it's based on Angry Birds but different. I'm using Box2D and I have to say it's taken me 3 months to get the game to work properly,.but it is a great object once you get around it and understand how it works. I'm still learning and yes it's very difficult.

Here is a screen shot of level 1. Game should be on the web in June 2012.

Cool! Is there any chance you would release an example or tutorial of this when you are done for people to learn from? There is a lots of examples and tuts for pretty much everything in mmf, but box2d stuff is still very lacking in that area.

Let's just hope it doesn't go the way of things such as Pokemon or Megaman Battle Network where they keep milking it by churning out one derivative pseudo-sequel right after another. I am not one to copy something like that just to get noticed (and I am not accusing you of this, either.) but I am sure I will get noticed: by a massive copyright infringement suit. Originality speaks to the very essence of human creationism, and to me it just doesn't feel right to imitate something else when it's just as easy to conjure up something original. But that's just me, of course.

P.S. The elastic slingshot is a good idea, and you probably could create it in basic MMF2 by using a system similar to the Mega Buster: the player would hold down the fire button to gain power (but in that case it would also make for a cool challenge that if you held it down too long, the device would either overheat or you would fan the shot and lose much accuracy.), and you could achieve this with counters or alterable values. I am just saying to be careful of the theme you context this idea in, to avoid being too derivative.

OldLongDragon, You don't live in this world?,.so where do you live?? Or did you mean,.you don't live in a world where you're not in it for the money!?

For one, I didn't copy Angry Birds engine to make my game and my game is totally different than Angry Birds and is in no way shape or form "like" Angry Birds at all. I posted my response to say hey!! Box2d is a great object to use in any game for some great effects. That's all. You say it's annoying and a fad,.so what you're saying is that all games that "make it" are just fads!?? For instance,.what about Pong when it came out,.it made millions,.why? because it was a cool game a people wanted it to play it!! I'm sure if you created Angry Birds,...you wouldn't be saying what you're saying,..right??

Outcast,.if you download Box2d,.it comes with open source examples. They are hard to understand, but if you spend some time with them you'll understand it. It took me months to get my head around it. It takes time and is not easy.

Yes I have looked at these examples and implemented some of the methods in my own experiments, but most of them are not "game like" It would be very useful to be able to study a example of a part of an actual Box2D game engine.
