I'm thinking it's because of the custom movement I have for the character and because it's mouse controlled? Very frustrating!

I'm going to leave it alone and forget about the frame around the play area. Thank you for the example though.

Are you familiar with Layers in MMF2?
    ...
    Make 2 layers:
    - Layer 2 is where your 'frame around the play area' and HUD elements are ( lives, highscore, ammo, energy etc ). Layer 2 is also allways ontop.
    - Layer 1 is where the actuall game elements reside and where the actuall game elements take place.
    ...
Go to Layer 2 --> Properys --> Settings
    Set Xcoefficient to 0
    Set Ycoefficient to 0

In short what this does is making sure all objects ( even backdrop objects ) in Layer 2 allways stick to the screen, even if Layer 1 is scrolling.
I know you said youd leave it alone, but i couldnt help myself
