Why are samples softer in MMF2 than outside MMF2?

I play a sample outside MMF2 and it's good and loud, but when I set it to play in MMF2, you can't hear it. The volume is at 100 (All it is, is at the start of the frame play the mp3 ((Which is 4 min. long))) but I can't hear it at all! There isn't anything wrong as far I can see... What in the world am I doing wrong?

It works every time, except for when I test the application! I press F7 to test the frame and it doesn't play the music...

OGG is a similar format to MP3 in that you can set the quality. WAV you can't, and MIDI plays differently on each computer. AIFF I don't think anyone uses any more.
Check you have the filters enabled in the application properties XStar. It's in the first tab, ~5th option down. Uncheck Auto and include all the filters.
If that's not the issue, head to the 3rd tab of the application properties, make sure the Run while XXXs are checked, and below that, play sounds over frames & Do not mute samples when application loses focus should both be checked.
If all else fails, try playing it in DirectShow object.

MMF2 doesn't even natively support MP3s as far as I'm aware and MP3s suck compared to OGGs. OGGs are pretty much the same thing except they compress better and sound better when encoded at the same quality as an MP3. OGG is the standard sound file used by game developers these days anyway.

The latest version of MMF2 supports Mp3 files. Since I'm only using 250, I just convert everything to WAVE and let MMF2 use its own compression.

Is there any reason to have all sound filters checked if I only use .ogg files? I am thinking that if may require a tiny bit less "performance" for the game, if you dont include the filters for sound formats you don´t even use? Or does it not matter at all, so I can have them all checked anyway, even though I dont use other than .ogg?

I am mainly doing Flash apps as of now, so any performance or size saver, however small it is, is welcome for me.

Flash only plays MP3s anyway, so whatever you use it'll be converted to MP3 when you build the SWF. So no, unchecking filters won't save you anything.

Also make sure when you use midi files,.click on the speaker icon in your system tray and make sure SW Synth's volume is up. Ive placed midi in some of my games and I didn't hear it,. then I checked the Synth volume and it was all the way down. Sometimes I've noticed that when you turn your PC of a then on again when ever you do,.the Synth volume will reset to 0. Also converting to ogg saves file sizes compared to Mp3's and Wav.
