Simon and that's just a number that was being returned for the xposition of the menu by window handles... (actually it's slightly higher than the number which was being returned) - I set it at that level so that it would go positive when a menu became active, based on the menu position when it is visible.

I honestly cannot replicate the problems you are having though and it does seem strange... I would view the solution I offered as a temporary fix rather than a permanent solution personally (even though it's probably fine to use it in the final design of your application).
