Looks like it should be okay:

"we have no intention of suing you, or anything of the sort... keep in mind, I came to you as a fan of your work to offer you a deal... not to shut you down."

They also confirmed that they don't want to take any of the money made so far, and I should be able to make MANOS II alongside the movie, and this will become the OFFICIAL game of the film, so I think it's all good

That's great news Sam! I'm eager to play the sequel (must finish this one first, it's pretty difficult imho).

Change it to Namos: sands of hate. But honestly, I'd sit on it for a while. Assuming sales will drop as usual, I'd wait for that drop before changing the name. And you can always keep the existing title in the keywords.

Well, nothing's changing now, I'm probably going to go with the deal they offer me unless it's unfair. They apparently don't want any of the revenue made so far.

So I got a review on IGN. 6/10. It's also featured in New & Noteworthy on iTunes in Australia and New Zealand.

And it's sold 3,891 now, as well as a slight boost to AWESOME Land (from about 4-5 sales a day to any number between 8 and 28), totalling 4,018 app sales since MANOS' launch. I love that the downward curve is 'wobbly' this time, while the decline is obvious, it doesn't necessarily mean the sales are fewer the next day. Apple's fiscal month ends tomorrow, and I'm very pleased that I'll be receiving at least enough to cover the time spent designing and developing the game when the payment comes through next month.

I've been working on updating MANOS to improve the controls and fix some bugs, and optimising AWESOME Land a little more too, so I'll cross-promote the two within each other (a MANOS advert in AWESOME Land and vice versa), and let you guys know if that affects sales. Due to the number of free days I have a good 20,000 people with AWESOME Land still on their devices (alas, only about 3,000 paid for it), I'd be stupid to not advertise to all those people, regardless of how many of them are the types who prefer to snipe apps on free day.

I know a lot of interest came from the features on Kotaku etc., and especially from bad movie/MST3K fans, but I genuinely think that the key is to create something interesting and great and find a way of making people aware of it. Getting people excited on TouchArcade is obviously a must but MANOS was able to pull people in from elsewhere also, just due to it being such an unusual concept. One way or another I guess you have to stand out. DTownTony's idea to introduce gore and violence to Fruit Ninja gameplay for example just got people talking. I was baffled as to why AWESOME Land fizzled out so quickly but the wonderful user reviews have been so helpful in explaining several causes - it's not as good a quality product in general as MANOS, it lacks power-ups, and the cheeky references to Mario in the sprites etc. make it appear too much like a cheap ripoff (that wasn't the intention, it was supposed to be a cheeky little homage, but obviously people don't see if that way).

I'm going to keep posting my progress because I really feel a lot of you guys can achieve this too. I mean OK this many sales would be considered a commercial failure for a game dev studio with more than one person but it just about puts food on the table for an individual wanting to call game dev their career.

Now how does one continue to think of outrageous ideas to get people tweeting...? Back once again to the drawing board!

At £1.49 selling price 4000+ sales in 10 days is really good, when I first saw that you priced MANOS above 69p I did doubt you would sell as many as awesomeland, but you done better so woop

It's nice they are taking a nice approach to this situation, but when using a property you didn't create, whether it's released license free to the public or not, you should always contact the creators.
