    Fgl? :(

Hi everyone. I'm new to flash and had a few question about the FGL site. Has anyone used FGL? When they take their 10% does it come directly from your account or do you have to send it to them? Has anyone profited from this site? Is it worth it?

I really don't understand the bidding thing!! Also what about this?
    Exposure:
Indicate whether your game has been seen by the general populace. As a rule of thumb, if you can Google your game and easily find it, the game is definitely "Widely Available". Exposure is bad for sponsorships... sponsors are only interested in games that have never been seen before. But exposure is good for game sales. The more popular your game is, the easier it is to sell non-exclusive sitelocks in our Game Shop.

I have Google the game and it comes up,.so I should use the Game Shop?

I have my game/games on Mochi so far. Are there any other game sites that you can suggest to sell my games that are good.
Thank you for shedding some light on this for me,

    John

Maybe a bit wrong forum section for this topic, but anyway, FGL and flash sponsorships have been discussed before on the regular Flash/SWF forum. Also you should check FGL's FGLopedia if you haven't yet.

But essentially, sponsorships are about advertising. Any flash game you release have advertising potential and monetary value (at least a small one!) because of the fact people will be playing them and looking at the contents you present on the screen. Advertisers are interested in anything which can caught the attention of their target audience, and games can do this in many cases. Just like on TV, many companies are interested in buying advertising space in form of commercials to gain visibility, drive awareness and sales for their products - similarly flash games are one big online medium for advertising. Advertisers aka sponsors are usually game portal owners who want to drive incremental traffic to their web site by buying ad space from games.

FGL connects developers and advertisers through this bidding process where sponsors can make offers for this advertisement space within developer's game.

If you have released your game already, you could try the Game Shop to sell a "site-lock" license which serves a little bit different purpose for the sponsor. If you have an un-released game, that has more potential for primary and exclusive sponsorship licensees, so in those cases you should put it up for regular bidding.

They don't take the money from your account, as there's no money involved in your account, usually you get paid via Paypal and after the deal is done you have to pay them or explain why you won't pay in case the negotiation fell through.

Yes, I think their services are worthy and are a good help specially in the beginning.

You shouldn't release your games anywhere else before putting them up for bidding, or you will ruin your chances for an exclusive or primary sponsorship (the ones that pay the most).

You can email sponsors to sell your games or post them in the mochi forums for sponsors to see them.
