Question Active Color Change With y Movement

This is pretty weird, but a cloned an active object and as I move it up and down in the y direction, its color changes. I must have done something to have this happen, but quite frankly, I'm clueless. Any help appreciated. See attached file.test.mfa

Are you sure? This could be another example of same color technique (AKA Optical Illusion) where the eyes play tricks on you. I checked the color of both actives, and they both read 255,255,203

Did the two objects look like the same color? They don't to me - they are not even close. And as you move the bottom one up, you can see the yellow color getting darker until it matches the one at the top. I don't believe it's an optical illusion. Interesting idea though.

Yes, I agree that when the background color changes, the perception of the foreground color can change. I teach physics for a living. But, these the two objects in question are against the same background color. They should look the same and not change just because one is at the top and one is at the bottom.

Sounds like your monitor might be having some color issues, I remember having one that showed 255,0,0 as something closer to 255,128,0 in only the bottom third of the screen, because it had some issue with the way it displayed color.

Edit: Yeah, this is a complete optical illusion based on monitor backlighting. If you sit slightly above your monitor it looks very different, you can tell it's the same but bridging the two objects with ANOTHER cloned object rotated 90 degrees.
