fade in transition object problem

I have this point and click game where you see an object lying around when the frame starts. I have the fade in transition activated. but when I take the object a counter is set to 1 next time you come back in the room when counter is 1 the object is gone.

here's the problem, everytime the fade in transition is showing at the start you just see the object there until the fade in is over then it dissapears .
anyone know how to deal with this.

Perhaps you should create the object if your counter=0 (and don't create it if your counter=1)?
Alternatively, destroy the object if counter=1 and use a small black active that's scaled up to fill the screen - change the transparency of this active to get a fade-in transition for your screen, once your object has been checked and destroyed or not depending on the counter.
