    Stairs issue?

Hey guys, i know this has been asked a blue million times, but i am working on a castlevania remake (just purely for fun of course) and im having problems making the stairs work. I've played with the example that Atherton posted a while back but i wasnt able to implement it my way. While i HAVE figured out a way to make it work (yay!lol) it looks choppy. I have 2 sensors set at the bottom and top of each stair set to switch between his walking and steps animations. The actual "stairs" is just an active line set at different angles depending on the height/length of the stairs. My question is, is there any way you guys know of to actually use small blocks to make him step one foot after the other on each step? Right now he just looks like he's jogging up the steps lol.

It comes down to how good your animation is. I had been having a similar problem with ladders. It ended up taking 14 frames to appear seamless, when the walking animation is only 6. You could put a railing in front to hide it... sorry, none of that was very helpful. Can your player stop half way up the stairs?

Yeah i've got an idle stance for when you're not moving he's got is foot on a step. Im thinking that i can try some event like when i have my stairs animation playing and he is walking have him move x pixels every 0.25 secs or something like that. I wasnt sure if something like that would work or not, just wanted to get some input on that before i set up for failure lol.

For my ladder, the climbing animation sequence loops, but every time it gets to the end, the player is moved up (or down) 16 pixels, which is the height between rungs. When the player stops moving the animation pauses and when the player is descending, the animation is reversed, but that wouldn't work so well for stairs haha.

The usual workaround is to have something covering the feet, like a plank of wood angled along the edge of the staircase or overgrown grass covering the feet up the hill.
